... the Marks say it best ...from their web: www.beatmarksmeat.com

We Began our endeavor in May of 2001

Based on a friend's similar competition in Chicago "Beat Mark's Meat", the concept was to create a
party that would slowly grow to become almost a festival-like atmosphere...

2001: We started small the first year. I recruited about 6 Chefs who felt confident they had mastered the
fire, including our Pontiff for the day, Mark Kwilosz who came from his own competition the christen ours.
Overall, about 9 entries.

2002: We grew in size to about 7 chefs but increased in entries to about 13.

Winner, and still Champ Year 2: Rob Black

2003: My partner in crime made it official and was our first competition as a married couple.
(Foreshadowing) We grew to 8 Chefs and increased entries considerably again to about 25.
