We Began our endeavor in May of 2001
Based on a friend's similar competition in Chicago "Beat Mark's Meat", the concept was to create a
party that would slowly grow to become almost a festival-like atmosphere...
2001: We started small the first year. I recruited about 6 Chefs who felt confident they had mastered the
fire, including our Pontiff for the day, Mark Kwilosz who came from his own competition the christen ours.
Overall, about 9 entries.
Winner year 1: Bob Black
2002: We grew in size to about 7 chefs but increased in entries to about 13.
Winner, and still Champ Year 2: Rob Black
2003: My partner in crime made it official and was our first competition as a married couple.
(Foreshadowing) We grew to 8 Chefs and increased entries considerably again to about 25.
This year things changed.
Winner Year 3: Peter Blackmon. No one Beat Pete's meat.
2004: My wife decided she was carrying me a this time and broke out on her own.
New contest :Squeeze Laura's Tomatoes" a Salsa competition.
Winner Year 4: Grill-Laura Blackmon Salsa-Toni Towne
Winner 2006: Grill-Joe Vincent and Sean Sams Dessert-Anna Sams
